Why London for Digital Billboards?
London is not just the biggest DOOH market in the UK. It is bigger than the rest of the country combined in terms of spend. Roughly 70% of all UK digital OOH revenue flows through London screens.
The numbers are hard to argue with. Over 4,500 digital screens across the city. JCDecaux, Clear Channel, Global, Ocean Outdoor, and TfL all operate networks here. Roadsides, shopping centres, Tube platforms, bus shelters, rail stations, landmarks. Every high-footfall environment in London has digital screens in it.
4 million people commute into London every working day. Most of them pass multiple digital screens before they reach their desk. Add 20 million overseas tourists a year, 9 million residents, and the millions who visit for shopping, events, and nights out. No other UK city comes close to that volume of eyeballs.
London also leads the UK in programmatic DOOH. The screen density makes it possible to run highly targeted campaigns at postcode level. You can target Canary Wharf for financial services, Shoreditch for tech, Westfield for retail, and the West End for entertainment. All from the same platform, all in the same campaign.
And then there are the spectaculars. Piccadilly Circus, Waterloo Motion, the IMAX, Old Street. These are not just screens. They are cultural landmarks. Appearing on them generates earned media, social sharing, and press coverage that multiplies the value of your paid impressions. Some brands book Piccadilly specifically for the Instagram photos their audience takes.
Top London Digital Billboard Locations
The screens that matter. Each one reaches a different audience in a different way.
Piccadilly Circus
The most famous digital advertising screen on the planet. The Piccadilly Lights reach about 100 million people a year. Managed by Ocean Outdoor for Landsec. Brands book this as much for the social media photos and PR as for the raw impressions. If your campaign needs a moment, this is where you create it. Budget from £10,000 per fortnight upwards.
Waterloo Motion
One of Europe's largest indoor digital screens, dominating the main concourse at Waterloo. 100 million+ passengers a year walk right past it. Full-motion video. Impossible to miss whether you are arriving, departing, or cutting through the station. High dwell time because commuters are waiting for their platform to be announced.
Old Street Roundabout
Silicon Roundabout. Tech workers, startup founders, VCs, creative agencies. The Old Street digital screens sit at the entrance to one of London's most valuable professional demographics. If you are a tech brand, SaaS company, or recruiting in the sector, this is your spot. The audience skews young, affluent, and extremely online.
Westfield (Shepherd's Bush & Stratford)
Two of Europe's biggest shopping centres. Digital screens across both sites catch millions of shoppers a month who are already in buying mode. Interior and exterior placements. Strong for retail, food and drink, entertainment, and consumer brands. These people have their wallets out. Literally.
Canary Wharf
London's second financial centre. Bankers, lawyers, consultants, and corporate decision-makers. Digital screens on the estate and at Canary Wharf Tube station. If your audience is high-earning professionals in financial services, this is the most concentrated place to reach them in the UK. Also good for luxury brands and premium recruitment.
Cromwell Road Digital Towers
The A4 between Heathrow and central London. Over 90,000 vehicles a day. Digital towers along this corridor deliver massive vehicular reach. Slow-moving traffic means extended dwell times. Popular with airlines, entertainment, and national brands that want mass reach in London. Some of the highest-traffic digital locations outside of stations.
London Digital Billboard Formats
Four formats at four price points. Each one does a different job.
D6 – Digital 6-Sheet
From £700 / 2 weeks
Small screens in London shopping centres, high streets, and bus shelters. Close to pedestrians in high-footfall areas. Good for retail, events, and campaigns that need to reach people near the point of purchase. JCDecaux and Clear Channel run the bulk of the London D6 network.
D48 – Digital 48-Sheet
From £1,500 / 2 weeks
Large roadside screens across London. The core of any London DOOH campaign. High-def LED panels on major routes catching drivers and pedestrians. Outer London sites start cheaper. Central sites like Euston Road and Vauxhall Bridge Road cost more but deliver higher footfall.
Digital Spectacular
From £5,000 / 2 weeks
Piccadilly, Waterloo, IMAX, Old Street. The screens that make the news. Massive reach, earned media value, social sharing. These are statement placements. If you can afford them, the ROI goes beyond raw impressions because of the PR multiplier.
Programmatic DOOH
From £4 CPM
Audience-targeted buying across London's screen network. Postcode-level geo-targeting. Daypart scheduling. Real-time optimisation. Buy through VIOOH, The Trade Desk, or Hivestack. Particularly useful if you are already running programmatic digital and want to extend into physical screens.

How to Book London Digital Billboards
Brief to live screens in 5-10 working days. No printing. No installation crews. Just upload and go.
Brief & Budget
Tell us who you want to reach in London, what you want to spend, and when. We come back within 1 hour with specific screen recommendations and costs.
Screen Selection
We pick screens using Route audience data. Every screen has verified metrics: impressions, demographics, footfall. We match the screens to your audience, not the other way round.
Creative Upload
Send your files or we design them. We format everything and upload to every screen. If you want video on some screens and static on others, we handle that too.
Live & Reporting
Campaign goes live on schedule. Proof of play reports show exactly when and where your ad ran. Need to change creative mid-campaign? Usually sorted within 24 hours.
London Digital vs Traditional Billboards
We book both and we are honest about the trade-offs. Sometimes digital is the right call. Sometimes traditional. Often both.
Our recommendation: traditional 48-sheet on a key road for your always-on brand presence, digital screens layered across the city for flexible, tactical messaging. That combo works well for most London campaigns. See traditional London billboards.

London DOOH: Things Worth Knowing
Practical stuff that will save you money and avoid common mistakes.
September to November books up fast. This is peak season for London OOH. Christmas campaigns, Q4 brand pushes, retail promos. Premium screens like Piccadilly and Waterloo can sell out 6-8 weeks in advance during this period. If you know you want Q4 screens, book in July or August. January and February are quieter and cheaper across the board.
Check your share of voice. A £5,000 London spectacular sounds great until you realise you are getting 1-in-8 share of voice. That means your ad shows for 10 seconds every 80 seconds. At 1-in-4, you are showing every 40 seconds. The cost per play is very different. Always ask what share of voice is included in the rate.
TfL screens have restrictions. Transport for London has strict advertising guidelines. Certain product categories are banned (junk food, for example) and all creative needs TfL approval, which can add 3-5 working days to your timeline. Factor this in if you are booking Tube or bus shelter screens.
Programmatic CPMs in London are higher. If someone tells you programmatic DOOH is the cheap way to buy London screens, they are oversimplifying. London CPMs on premium programmatic inventory can hit £8-£10, which is not far off what you would pay buying the same screens directly. Programmatic is great for flexibility and targeting, but it is not automatically cheaper. We will advise on which buying method makes more sense for your specific campaign.
